A VPS can present its virtual CPUs as multiple cores in one virtual socket or as several virtual sockets. This is a guest-visible layout, not a description of the physical processors dedicated to your service.

Why the layout matters

Some operating systems and applications limit the number of sockets or license software according to processors or cores. Check the exact edition and current vendor licensing terms before changing the layout. A different socket count alone does not guarantee improved performance or physical NUMA placement. Use the Settings tab and system configuration to review the options available for your VPS. Record the existing settings before making a change and plan for a restart.
