Test connectivity from the networks your users actually use before choosing a VPS location. Geographic distance alone does not determine latency or routing. Open the relevant location on the EDBB website. Its Looking Glass, test addresses and download links provide the available network-test destinations for that location. Use the displayed current destination instead of an address copied from another location.

Useful tests

  • Ping for round-trip latency, where the target permits ICMP.
  • Traceroute or MTR for the route and end-to-end packet loss.
  • A download test for a sample of throughput along that particular path.
Repeat at relevant times and compare actual application performance. Recorded speed-test results and host-uplink capacity are not a guarantee of per-VPS throughput or future performance. Your ISP, route, destination and workload all matter. See diagnose packet loss and country-specific reachability.
