Traffic is the amount of data transferred. Bandwidth describes how much data a connection can carry per second.

What counts towards your allowance?

EDBB counts incoming plus outgoing traffic. Uploads, downloads, backups and application traffic all contribute to the total. Each VPS plan includes a monthly traffic allowance. Your account also has a separate Traffic Pool, from which you can assign more traffic to a VPS. The pool and the VPS allowance are not the same balance. See Traffic Pool.

Does a faster connection include more traffic?

No. Connection speed and traffic allowance are separate. A fast transfer uses the same amount of traffic as a slow transfer of the same data. An advertised infrastructure uplink speed is not guaranteed throughput for one VPS. Actual speed depends on the plan, destination, route and current load. Open the VPS’s Traffic tab to check usage and the next refill date. If its allowance runs out, follow restore network speed.
