# Understand EDBB service emails

> Understand EDBB emails about VPS access, traffic, upgrades and billing. Check what happened, which service is affected and whether you need to take action.

Service emails explain what has changed and whether you need to do anything. Read the body as well as the subject, and check which VPS or invoice it refers to.

## Common notifications

| Email about | What to check or do |
| --------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| New VPS access details | Save the login details and follow [your welcome email](/check-your-inbox). If it is missing, use [access recovery](/no-email-received). |
| 100 GB starter traffic or a pool top-up | The traffic is in your account's shared pool. Assign it to a VPS before expecting that VPS's allowance to increase. |
| Traffic usage approaching the limit | Check that VPS's remaining allowance and arrange more traffic if needed. |
| Low Traffic Pool balance | Refill the shared reserve if you want to keep using it. A low pool balance does not necessarily mean a VPS has run out of traffic. |
| Network speed restriction | Check the affected VPS and [restore its traffic allowance](/faq/traffic-bandwidth/exceeding-monthly-included-traffic). |
| RAM or vCPU upgrade ready | Follow the activation instructions. A full shutdown and power-on is needed; a restart inside the operating system is not enough. |
| IPv4 address added or changed | Configure the address inside the operating system. An assignment in the panel is not the same as a working network configuration. |
| Invoice or payment reminder | Check the amount, due date and payment status in the panel. See [billing and renewals](/faq/billing-lifecycle/billing-workflow). |
| Abuse notification | Investigate and [reply to the notice](/misc/responding-to-abuse-complaints), following its instructions and deadline. |

## Pool traffic and VPS traffic are different

A pool top-up adds traffic to the account's reserve. It does not automatically assign traffic to a VPS or restore a rate-limited VPS's speed.

Assign traffic manually or use Auto-Hydration when it is enabled and its conditions are met. Auto-Hydration uses the existing pool balance; it does not purchase more traffic. See [Traffic Pool](/faq/traffic-bandwidth/traffic-pool).

## Ready does not always mean active

For CPU or RAM changes, follow the [power-cycle procedure](/vps-management/power-cycle-or-reboot-a-vps). For extra IPv4 addresses, follow [Linux IP configuration](/faq/ip-addresses/configure-additional-ip-linux) or your Windows adapter settings.

When the primary IPv4 address changes, the old address stops working immediately. Use the [IP-change guide](/faq/ip-addresses/change-ip-address) and console access to update the configuration.

## Check the current status

An email describes the situation when it was sent. Sign in to the [EDBB Control Panel](https://my.edbb.com/clientarea.php) to check the latest service, traffic and invoice status.

If you are unsure what a message means, email [support@edbb.com](mailto:support@edbb.com) with its subject and the affected service. Do not include passwords or authentication codes.
